BETTER THAN MOST
Better Than Most is a regular feature of The Business of Giving examining the best places to work among social good businesses and nonprofit organizations. We go inside the offices of these institutions so you can hear directly from the executive team and staff as to what makes their corporate culture so special and unique.
And for this edition, we’ll be going out to Los Angeles adjacent to LAX Airport and to the home of Team Rubicon. They utilize the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams, and as you might expect, they have an exceptional organizational culture.
And for this evening’s Better Than Most, we’re going to head on over to the Empire State Building in New York and to the offices of Human Rights Watch. We’ll start the segment with Ken Roth, their Executive Director, and then hear from other members of the Human Rights Watch team.
One of the best nonprofit organizations headquartered in Philadelphia is Springboard Collaborative. What they do is close the literacy gap by closing the gap between home and school. And the team there truly enjoys and is fulfilled by what they do as you will hear starting with their President, Aubrey White.
And tonight, we’ll be heading out west to Westlake Village, California, in the headquarters of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. Their mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable people throughout the world. It’s a pretty special place to work, and you’ll hear why from some of the members of the team.
And for this edition of Better Than Most, we will be going to The Presidio in San Francisco into the home of Fast Forward, an organization that invests in entrepreneurs who are using technology to accelerate social impact. Let’s hear from some of the members of this close-knit team on why it is such an exceptional place to work.
And tonight, you’ll be going to Silicon Valley — Mountain View to be specific and to the offices of Khan Academy, an extraordinary organization that has created a set of online tools and videos to help educate students. It’s also an extraordinary place to work as you will soon hear.
And for this edition of Better Than Most, we will be going to South Grand Avenue in Los Angeles and to the home of the LA Philharmonic who by the way is celebrating their centennial anniversary this year. We’ll start with their President, Simon Woods, and then hear from some of the other members of the team.
And for this edition, you’ll be going out Duarte, Califonia just the outside of Los Angeles and to the headquarters of City of Hope known for the being one of the best cancer treatment and research centers in the world. Let’s hear from some of the dedicated and passionate members of the team as to why it is such an exceptional place to work.
Tonight we visit 1616 P Street, in Washington DC and the headquarters of Namati an organization dedicated to put in a Law to people’s hand. We’ll begin with thier Chief Executive Officer, Vivek Maru who is tell us about the mission of thier organization and then you will hear from some of the other members of the team.
And for this edition of Better Than Most will be going up to Boston Mass. and to the offices of J-PAL North America the poverty action lab at MIT will begin with Executive Director Mary Ann Bates who will tell us about their work and anyone here from somebody of the team.
And for this edition of Better Than Most, we will be visiting the New York offices of ideas42, an organization dedicated to using behavioral science for social good. We’ll begin with their Executive Director, Josh Wright and then hear from some of the other members of the team.
Tonight, we’re gonna head over to Wall Street and to the headquarters of Girls, Inc. We’ll begin with their President and CEO, Judy Vredenburgh and then you’ll hear from some of the other members of the staff.
